Product Details & Benefits

The detail that separates a beautiful room from an extraordinary one is rarely the furniture. It is the fabric - what it is made of, how it feels, and what it quietly does for the people in the room.

What it is made of:

  • Material: 100% Pure Grade 6A Mulberry Silk Charmeuse
  • Weight: 16.5 Momme
  • Weave: Charmeuse — satin-like face, matte reverse
  • Closure: Concealed zip, sitting flush at the edge
  • Sizes: 40×40 cm · 45×45 cm · 50×50 cm
  • Care: Delicate machine wash 30°C or hand wash
  • Origin: Grade 6A Mulberry Silk - PCR

Why mulberry silk & why it matters:

  • 100% Pure Mulberry Silk — Not "Silk-Feel." Not Satin. Silk. Grade 6A mulberry silk — the highest grading in the industry — is produced from silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. The result is a fibre with a uniform, long-strand structure that creates the unmistakable lustre and softness that synthetic alternatives spend their entire existence trying to imitate.
  • Breathable & Thermoregulating — Year-Round Comfort: Natural silk adapts to its environment. Cool and refreshing in summer, quietly warm in winter. Unlike polyester or synthetic covers that trap heat and hold it against you, silk regulates — keeping cushions and sofas comfortable for every season, every use.
  • Hypoallergenic — The Natural Choice for Sensitive Skin: Silk's natural protein structure is inherently resistant to dust mites, mould and common allergens. If you have sensitive skin, eczema, or have ever woken up from a sofa nap with irritated skin — your cushion cover may be the reason. Mulberry silk is not.
  • Gentle on Hair & Skin — Wherever You Rest: Most people think of silk pillowcases for hair and skin benefits. Fewer realise that a silk cushion cover on a sofa, reading chair or daybed offers exactly the same benefits — less friction, less breakage, less overnight crease — whenever you rest against it. It is the same Grade 6A charmeuse as our pillowcases. The benefit is identical.
  • Luminous Sheen That Changes With the Light: Charmeuse silk catches and shifts light in a way that velvet, cotton and linen simply cannot. The same cushion looks ivory-soft in morning light and deep and jewel-like by lamplight. This is the quality that makes a room look designed — not just decorated.
  • An Investment That Holds Its Value: At the price of a good dinner out, a Jass London silk cushion cover lasts for years with proper care - growing softer with each gentle wash, not thinner or rougher. It is the kind of purchase that feels indulgent the first time and obvious every time after that.

Silk Care Guide

Silk is a natural protein fibre — closer in composition to your hair than to any synthetic fabric. The right care preserves its softness, sheen and hypoallergenic properties for years. The wrong care takes weeks to undo.

Machine Washing - Delicate Cycle

  • Turn inside-out before washing - this protects the lustrous face of the silk from drum friction.
  • Use a mesh laundry bag - an essential step that prevents snagging against other fabrics or the machine drum.
  • Choose your detergent carefully - use a pH-neutral, enzyme-free liquid detergent made for silk or wool. Avoid biological detergents, bleach, fabric softeners and products with optical brighteners, these degrade silk protein at the fibre level.
  • Cold water, 30°C maximum - select the delicate, silk or handwash cycle. Wash silk separately from heavy fabrics such as denim, towels or anything with zips or hooks.

Hand Washing - Recommended

  • Fill a clean basin with cool or lukewarm water. Add a small amount of silk detergent and dissolve gently before submerging.
  • Agitate gently by hand — do not rub, scrub or wring. The motion should feel more like a massage than a wash. Soak for no longer than 3–5 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly in cool, clean water until every trace of detergent has gone. Soap residue left in silk fibres attracts dirt and dulls the sheen over time.

Drying

  • Never wring or twist - gently squeeze excess water, or roll the cushion cover in a clean white towel and press to absorb moisture.
  • Air dry flat or hanging in a shaded, well-ventilated space. Direct sunlight degrades silk protein and causes colour to fade, even one or two hours of strong UV exposure causes damage that is irreversible.
  • Never tumble dry - the heat and mechanical action of a dryer will permanently damage the fibre structure.

Ironing & Storage

  • Iron while slightly damp if needed - use the lowest silk setting and iron on the reverse (inside-out) side. A pressing cloth between the iron and the silk adds an extra layer of protection.
  • Store folded in a breathable fabric bag - away from direct light, damp and strong scents. Avoid plastic bags, which trap moisture and can cause yellowing over time.

Never use biological detergents, bleach or fabric softeners on silk. These break down the natural sericin protein that gives silk its hypoallergenic and moisture-regulating properties and the damage is permanent.
